Mark Stephen Willingham ... Fine Oils on Linen

About the Artist

Mark Stephen Willingham

Mark Stephen Willingham and his wife, Lisa have made a big move! After living for 30 years in Glendale Springs and working on their home, gallery, and garden they moved on to bigger and better things. The love and attention they poured into their Glendale home now has transitioned into a 43-acre farm and gallery space located near Laural Springs, N.C, that is simply breathtaking.

After searching for years for just the right blend of environmental diversity the perfect property found its’ way into the Willingham’s hands. In 2006, even after seeing the land in its’ deteriorated condition, they both felt the land had been waiting for them to groom it back into it’ pristine beauty that lay beneath its’ rough exterior. Acres and acres of abandoned Christmas trees were cleared, roads were built, fields were sewn, fences were built, a cabin was remodeled, an 100 year old barn restored, plans were drawn, and finally a grand lodge style gallery, studio, woodworking shop , and beautiful loft (all designed by Willingham) were completed .

The studio and gallery overlook The Peak Mountain, which now is part of Wagoner State Park on the New River. The beautiful views and various scenes around his farm have inspired Mark Stephen to create some awe inspiring new works. Little Peak Creek Farm even has a vacation rental cabin for art collectors who travel from afar to select the perfect piece of art for their home, while taking time to visit the surrounding attractions of the high country.

As always the Willingham’s have many more plans to improve and expand their gallery and farm while capitalizing on many of Mark Stephen's talents. Be sure to keep abreast of upcoming events and changes at The Studio, Gallery, and now Farm of Mark Stephen Willingham and his wife Lisa, at Little Peak Creek

Mark Stephen Willingham was born in Atlanta, Georgia, but has spent most of his adult life living in the North Carolina mountains.

Coming from a family of creativity and ingenuity, he has been characterized as a true "Renaissance Man" being talented in many mediums; furniture building and design, wood sculptures, construction, music, landscape design, and writing. But his first love is painting.

Willingham has explored several mediums, charcoal, pen, and ink, and has had considerable success with watercolors, but his preferred medium, oils, showcases his talent.

While much of Willingham's early training was the result of self study and research, he has had the experience of studying with several master artists; acclaimed frescoe and portrait artist, Ben Long, renowned landscape and still life artist, Edward Szmyd, and the passionate Italian landscape artist, Egidio Antoniccio.

Willingham's paintings have been featured in designer showcase homes, galleries, and have found their way into many collectors' homes around the world.

Willingham meticulously prepares all his own Belgian linen canvases, insuring his collectors a work of art that will endure through centuries of admiration.
